Since 1856, Marie, nine years old, makes her beginnings in public, as it is attested by the program of a concert given in Haguenau, with the support of Franz Hamma, her professor in Stuttgart.

During the following years, she appears regularly with Guillaume Bauerkeller, young violonist a little older than her, pupil of Alard in the Academy of Paris : « A feeling of curiosity easy to understand seized the audience when the two children, who point out Mozart and his small sister, went up on the estrade, feeling which changed soon into surprise and delight. Nothing is more charming than to see the fingers of Marie running on the nice keyboard when she accompanies her young friend in the Sonata in F by Beethoven... » (Courrier du Bas-Rhin, November 13, 1856.)

From childhood to adolescence, from concert to concert, from success to success, she appears in the large European cities: Basle, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, Heidelberg,Darmstadt, Karlsruhe, Freiburg-In-Brisgau, London...

Alsace is obviously not forgotten: Strasbourg, Colmar, Mulhouse, Wissembourg, Haguenau...

The clippings gathered by her mother show that the critics unanimously see in the young pianist not only a child prodigy but already « a true artist ».
